Theme 2017-2018 - "WITHIN REACH"

“Reflections” is a nation-wide arts appreciation and recognition program for students.

6 Catagories

Film Production Music Composition
Photography Dance Choreography
Literature Visual Arts

Students may participate in multiple categories but submit only one entry per category. Please fill out one entry form per submission/entry. The artwork must relate to the theme. It must be the student’s original entry created at home.

Important Dates

Kick-off - Wednesday, September 13
Final deadline - Monday, October 23 (No exceptions!!)
Reflections Awards Ceremony - Monday, November 20

Key Information

1. Entry forms and guidelines for entries are available at the Audubon Library.
2. Please read all the rules and information (regarding sizing, labeling, copies, etc.). Entries not meeting
specifications will be disqualified.
3. Students identifying information (name, grade, etc.) should NOT be visible on the front of the submission (this is to avoid bias in judging). Please place these details behind the entry so your piece is not disqualified.
4. Neat, easy to read and complete entry forms are very important. The judges will be reading the “Title of Artwork” and the “Artist Statement” directly from the entry form. Untidy form entries or illegible handwriting may keep the entry from advancing to the next level.
5. Turn in the entry at the Audubon Library no later than the final deadline.
6. The artwork will be judged by community members including professionals, artists, and academicians.
7. The entries will be displayed in the library one week prior to the awards assembly.

8. Certificates will be given to all participants.

Each entry must follow the rules and have a Student Entry form.

Please feel free to download the Entry Form (or get one from the Audubon Library) and return to the Reflections box at the Audubon Library no later than Monday, October 23rd.

REFLECTIONS JUDGING - Thursday, November 2nd:

The judging for the Reflections Program is conducted blindly meaning that names should not be visible on the front of the artwork itself. If it's an electronic entry (CD or flash drive) we ask that the name of the artist not appear on the saved file. We like to invite various members from the community (such as educators, school administrators, artists, etc.,) to judge the entries however, sometimes we do balance it out by inviting parents. Ideally we prefer to have parents whose children are not participating in the Reflections Program that year. However, if that's not possible and we happen to have parents whose kids did submit an entry help us in judging, they would not judge the category/categories in which their kids participate. If you're interested in helping to judge (if we need parent volunteers) please e-mail both Nandita and Claudia. We'll select parent judges, if need be, on a first come basis giving priority to those whose children are not participating.
